Gokoku Japanese Bakery Outlets
Following are 8 outlets of Gokoku Japanese Bakery in Singapore:
For a limited time Gokoku has this delicious Japanese cheesecake, crafted with creamy Hokkaido milk for $8.8, a $1 saving if purchased with other products. The cheesecake is soft, not dense, not as fluffy or bouncy as other cheesecakes that I have tried, is moist and has a delicious Hokkaido milk cheesy flavor to it.
I was served by a very rude cashier staff at the third cashier counter near the kitchen during my purchased at 3.05pm today 20/10/2024, she had NO knowledge about what she is selling instead a customer was kind to share with me yet the cashier l told off the customer “HOW DO YOU KNOW?” and just walked off from the cashier counter. I think this company should train well their staffs with a smile and be polite like another bead shop.
Located at B1 Great World City. I tried same product at different outlets, but I still prefer purchase from this outlet, due to it more tasty.. full of potato, more softy and fluffy. Yummy💕
for most of the products the quality is good for the price u pay!! i recommend the cheese mochi bun and the vanilla scone (quality not excellent but good for the price, i like the addition of the walnuts) but not the potato and cheese bun (average) or the earl grey scone (not well balanced, texture very off)
1. While I was paying at the cashier, the cashier coughed multiple times right above my bread. Although she was wearing a mask, her attitude seemed to be, "I'm wearing a mask, so it's not a big deal."Ideally, a person should turn their head away while coughing, even if wearing a mask. This helps minimize the risk of contaminating nearby items. It’s a good practice for maintaining hygiene and reducing the spread of germs.2. I frequently purchase Yuzu Walnut Komeko and Shichifuku Matcha Bun. These breads are typically soft, chewy, and moist inside, but the ones I bought from yesterday were very dry, lacked chewiness, and had a strong burnt taste. I only managed to take photos of the Shichifuku Matcha Bun.As a regular customer, I hope the management can ensure that the quality standards are consistently maintained.Purchased date & time: 08/08/24 at 13:48pm
Located in the corner of the B1 level, this place maintains consistent quality across their outlets islandwide. My favorite is definitely the kurumi pan – soft and fluffy inside, with walnuts adding some texture and a nice nutty taste. Another favorite is the vanilla scone, with a crunchy exterior and moist interior. The added walnuts provide a good contrast in texture, and it's not too sweet.
Located at basement 1 of Great World City.A Japanese-themed bakery.Wide variety of bread available. There was a monthly top seller bread poster display- indicating the more popular bread being sold.Price was a bit on the high side, due to the supposedly healthier ingredients used.Different types of jams, imported from Japan, were available, from strawberry and blueberry jams.Service could be better, if you are to compare with other bakeries.Do bring your own carrier, as $0.10 was charged per plastic bag. And there are perks available, if you have signed up as member.
Located at Great World City basement 1. It's located at one of the corners along Japanese street.Very affordable premium breads made as if it's from Japan. Interior design is very clean and modern. You can find different kinds of innovative breads here at an affordable price. Breads on display are kept in a contained shelf. You should drop by their outlets all around Singapore.
I've never been a fan of Gokoku, despite trying at least seven or eight items. The dough just seems to be less flavourful compared to nearby Japanese bakeries like Taka Donq and Isetan Johan.Nevertheless, my quest for Shio Pan led me back here. I went with the Shio Pan with fillings: red bean ($2.40) and then peanut butter ($2.30), as recommended by my friend, and I was honestly impressed these 2 breads. The sweet red beans offer a contrast to the savoury butter bread, while the peanut butter is very aromatic. The bread is also much larger than other Shio Pan I've had recently, giving it extra value for money.I will definitely come back for these.
Today around 3:05pm, I dropped by your bakery shop and this was my first time buying here. When I was going to queue to pay, the buns slipped all the way to the floor. I was so shocked! Maybe I did not hold the tray properly but 2 female staff (sorry, did not get their names) were quick to clean up the floor and one of them helped me to reselect all my buns. She told me it’s not an issue and proceed to serve me. I expected them to charged me for the buns that fell on the floor but they did not. They were still polite and friendly when I kept apologising. I was so amazed by the excellent customer service and you have made me a lifetime customer. I come down every week to orchard and I will make sure to purchase all my buns here. Your staff really made my day and this type of quality customer service is really hard to find. Keep up the excellent service!
Very disappointed with my purchase yesterday. I’m a huge fan of this bakery and all the purchases has been smooth so far except for yesterday. While paying at the cashier, one of my shio bun slided out of my tray onto the countertop. The lady assured me she it’s okay she would change one for me. I proceeded to pay and leave the bakery. This morning when I opened the bag, I was shocked to find 2 shio buns and I was being charged for 2 shio buns instead of one. The question is. Which is the one that is fresh and which is the one that was on top of the countertop?? Isn’t she supposed to switch the one that had landed on the countertop with a fresh one for me and I would have also supposedly pay for 1 instead of 2 right? I seriously do not mind if you tell me i need to pay for the one that was contaminated and I would proceed to pay for it and a fresh one as well, however nothing was told at all and both shio buns were placed inside my bag and yes I didn’t eat the buns this morning since I didn’t know which is the contaminated one ?? 😞😞😞
Their cranberry bread is my favourite. 😍👍🏻👍🏻 Soft, sweet & chewy with a generous amount of cranberry all over that you can taste it with every bite. Must try!!
Tried the cheese bread and cranberry bread (#3 top best selling item), both of which were very good. Super excited to come back and try their other breads!!!
Stopped by Gokoku Japanese Bakery and picked up a scone and a red bean bread. They were both… fine. If you’re in the area and curious, it might be worth a visit
Always is my favourite bakery store.Malt kurumi pan with walnut is nice and jumbo coronet so creamy, not so sweet. They are Bestseller items in the shop.
Love each of their buns. The tea scone is so delicious and the sweetness is just perfect. The texture is great. The chocolate coronet is my all- time favourite and must-buy. Hope they expand and develop more stores in Singapore.
Gokoku Japanese Bakery seems to be a delightful spot for those with a penchant for Japanese-inspired confections. Nestled in the bustling Wisma Atria, it's a haven for food enthusiasts looking to indulge in the harmonious blend of traditional Japanese flavors and the classic art of baking. The bakery's commitment to quality is evident in the texture of their breads—soft, chewy, and just the right amount of springiness that speaks to the meticulous process of their creation. The pastries, a crispy and buttery affair, offer a satisfying crunch that complements the softness of the breads, creating a symphony of textures for the palate. The generous portions ensure that each customer leaves with not just their cravings satiated but also the feeling of having received value for their money. It's a testament to the bakery's philosophy of offering quality without compromise. The reasonable pricing, juxtaposed with the high standard of their baked goods, makes Gokoku a gem among the plethora of dining options in the area. The ambiance of the bakery, with its bright display and inviting aura, adds to the overall experience. It's a visual feast as much as it is a culinary one, with an array of breads, pastries, and cakes that are as pleasing to the eye as they are to the taste buds. The popularity of Gokoku is no surprise, given the dedication to excellence that can be tasted in every bite. However, the long queues are a testament to its popularity, suggesting that a visit requires a bit of planning. Off-peak hours might offer a more leisurely experience, allowing one to fully appreciate the range of flavors without the pressure of the crowd. Patience is key, as the wait is a small price to pay for the delectable offerings that await. For those who have yet to experience Gokoku Japanese Bakery, it comes highly recommended. It's a culinary journey that takes you through the essence of Japan with every morsel. Whether it's the original bread that boasts an exquisite chewiness or the variety that caters to every preference, Gokoku stands out as a must-visit for anyone who cherishes the art of baked goods with a Japanese twist. So next time you find yourself at Wisma Atria, let your senses guide you to the basement level, where Gokoku awaits to serve you a slice of Japan in the heart of Singapore.
Love the selection of breads from this bakery, especially their Mochi Mochi Cheese bread! It's perfectly bouncy and chewy, and the cheese adds a salty and subtly sweet bite.I wonder what type of cheese they use as it holds its shape/structure even after baking, providing a nice mouthfeel unlike a melted cheese. If any worker can answer my curiousity, much appreciated haha!Love the Shio Vanilla Scones as well as their Pork Sausage Bun which has a nice, juicy snap 😀
Due to the recent inflation going on everywhere, I noticed that even the prices of this bakery had also went up. So when I was expecting that they keep up or if not maintain their service standards, it actually dropped. During weekend evenings, the queue is always moving very slowly because only 1 counter was open. There were quite a number of staff inside the kitchen as well as outside but it just made me wonder why can’t other staff proactively and quickly open another counter to serve instead of making their customers queue up for such a long time just to pay for a few pieces of expensive bread? From my experience alone, sometimes the wait can take more than 15mins even when there’s only a handful of customers in front of me.
The bread, while pricier, has good texture and the store has a good selection available. I tried two of the top 5 items recommended (1 & 3), but these turned out to be rather plain for my liking. The chocolate mochi bread, while not in the top 5, was my preferred flavour. The cheese bread (ranked 3rd) was my least favourite, as it wasn't as cheesy as expected.
Love it when the bread and scones comes out freshly baked, the lovely fragrance bewitching me to get them baked goods. I love the earl grey tea scone as well as the kokutou x kokutou pan (so soft and chewy)!!!!Shout out to Kai Ming! Thank you for helping us to get the stamp for spending $20 after we have already paid. He was very fast and quick, clearing the queue in a short amount of time. ☺️☺️Update on 25th july: shout out to the bakers here in this tamp outlet for making such delicious bread!! tried the kokutou x kokutou pan from the yishun outlet and it is not as fluffy and chewy 🥲
Was extremely satisfied with my purchase due to its great taste, texture & variety. Most products pretty much sells out during dinner time. Price ranges at an average of $2.50 per bun, which is almost similar to other local bread shops. Will definitely patronise again.
Quality flour & ingredients….. always like Japanese bread.. Johan & Donq are also my favourite Japanese bakeries .. particularly love their sourdough bread..
Bread here always tastes good and I have been patronizing this Northpoint outlet regularly since it’s opening, but I had a bad experience here today around 3pm. Probably a lady in her 40-50s. I cannot remember her name but she took over my tong, then slammed in on the counter, and used the same tong that had been in contact with the counter to pack the breads that I had chosen into small plastic bags. Unless the counters have been thoroughly disinfected, I don’t see a point in having the tong come in contact with the counter. It contaminates the tong and all the pieces of bread that I paid for. The lady also did not wear her mask properly. Her nose was not being covered.Kindly train all your staff and ensure that proper food hygiene practices are in place. It should be taken very seriously.I will have to take the extra step of toasting my breads to kill the germs before consumption tomorrow.Feel free to contact me if you would like more details.
My favourite breakfast is always pairing with Gokaku’s Mochi-Mochi Cheese with a cup of coffee.Generous with cheese dices and the bun texture is so chewy. It’s chewy good! The other products like scones, coronets and malt kurumi pan are great as well.
Gokoku Japanese Bakery offers delicious jumbo coronets for just $2.20 each, along with a variety of freshly baked bread, buns, and scones. Definitely a must-buy if you're here!
i’ve always been a long-time supporter of gokoku bakery - their teriyaki chicken bread, kouign amann and mentaiko baguette are some of my absolute favourites and i’ve purchased them time after time.however, i decided to give another bun a shot today - their bun with cheese bacon and egg filling and it was revolting. i’m quite sure something was extremely off about the bread as it tasted bitter and smelled strange too. the kicker is that this is the second time i’ve bought this bun from this outlet, and the same thing happened the first time but i gave it another chance. i strongly advise management to check on this because it tasted like a health hazard. really disappointing!
Wished the tampines outlet was as huge and spacious as this! So pleasant to pick my bread. Shio pan isnt nice as it is. But once toasted, omg it is very good. Chewy, buttery, salty.
Located at B1 of Northpoint, the buns are slightly more expensive compared to other bakery in Northpoint itself. But they are some unique buns that can't be found in other bakery. The red beans are not super sweet but will buy from time to time, but not often.
I rarely buy and eat buns but surprisingly I find myself coming back to this bakery frequently and regularly. The buns are chewy in texture and the flavours are all quite tasty. Some of the items definitely shrinked in size from the time they opened a few months ago. Nevertheless despite the clear shrinkflation, the large crowd and long queue at this bakery remains unchanged.
Chinese PRC staff needs to learn how to tend to the customer at hand by quickly packing the items after payment has been made, than get all wrapped up in another colleague’s problem and wasting my time waiting to go off.She was incredibly oblivious to the situation as a queue was forming behind me and 3 of them were solving 1 person’s issue.
Bought the coronet (cream and chocolate) I like to have it after fridge it. It taste good this way. But the way the coronet pack was not very idea. The staff just put the coronet in a small plastic bag. I was so worried I will crush it when on my way home.
Komeko Pan 🍚 itself is moist, fragrant and soft-chewy. Still prefer cheese for mochi mochi series and the Shichifuku bun and matcha intensity is good as usual 🍵
I was introduced to this peanut shio butter pan bread that is so delicious and I love how chewy the bread is with a lightly salted taste. highly recommend!
Japanese style bakery.. the breads seem to be a healthier option than typical bakeries in Singapore. My favourite is the big Gokuku ShiChifuku Pan. The bun looks plain yet nice. Feel free to drop by to grab 1. Price wise range from $2.30 onwards. Millenia Walk
Good place to find Japanese style bakery.. the breads seems to be a more healthier options than typical bakeries in Singapore. My favorite is the large coronet. It's filled with rich custard with flaky pastry. The custard is nice consistency and not overly sweet.
Lovely bright displays of bread and pastries. I got the white marble pretzel. It’s a dual coloured puff pastry with chocolate and coated with white chocolate. Love the toasty almond slices. It looks sweet but it’s surprisingly not, balanced well by the plainer pastry. Also affordable for such a large piece of pastry.Very enjoyable and would love to try their other bakes soon! Staff were also courteous and polite despite the long queues.
Conveniently situated in front of the escalator, this bakery caught my attention. I picked up a few breads to try, and while the prices were on the higher side, the bread was soft with a great texture.
I am giving reviews for the buns in North Point that I bought last evening 8pm. They were not nice at all, as there were not fresh.I bought few times from ION (the passage way between ION and TAKA ), those were very good 👍, texture were so nice and buns were fresh even I bought in the evening.Wonder why different brunch got different standard . Hope the company will check on how the staff in NP handle the buns !
Located at the prominent spot of the Japanese food street of NEX.Don't think 6pm is late but like 2 rows are empty. All the rave bread are gone so I just picked 4 to see if it wowed my plalate.Overall, the bread is soft, fragrant and savoury. Worth the price but not everyday basis.
I visited the bakery this morning at Nex. I am thankful to have this female cashier to serve me. She offered me with a slightly bigger plastic carrier, placing my box of 6 egg together with 3 bread when she saw my egg were on the tray with the bread and fully packed groceries bag
I only bought two breads and I received impeccable service and kind gesture from the female cashier. After payment, cashier noticed me carrying two hot soups and she suggested to give me a big carrier for me to place two hot soups together with the two apple breads. The young lady shows great consideration for others, making a pleasant experience at the bakery store. Thank you. 🙏
Bought the custard box of 6. Choose 4 vanilla and 2 chocolate. The outside crispy and inside vanilla custard tasted like ice cream and whip cream. It was so good 🤤
The breads are nice but the service needs improving. Twice I have bought and both times interactions were rude and impatient. Request to separate the breads was met with a I know! response and to pay up. After payment then ask how to pack again. There was also no crowd to create stress.
A must-try for bread lovers! I’m absolutely in love with their breads, especially the top-selling house signature, the Shinchifuku bun, is my all time favorite. It has a wonderfully chewy and firm texture with a fragrant grain aroma. Not sweet, but with a subtle hint of salt—simply perfect! I haven’t tried their savory buns yet, but I can't wait to explore more.
gokoku bakeries always deliver in terms of taste of food.must tries:shichifuku pangokoku houjyou panscones (vanilla shio kurumi, chocolate cranberry, earl grey)scones are crumbly on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. fragrant vanilla flavour brought out by slight saltiness, walnuts added a nice crunch. chocolate was rich and decadent, pairs with sweet dried cranberries. earl grey was very aromatic, and has notes of lavender (although not indicated in the ingredients list)
Happiness whenever I walked into Gokoku Japanese Bakery to shop for my breakfast and afternoon tea break, everything looks and sounds so appetizing. Their buns are made using quality Japanese ingredients and hearty grains essential for daily nutrients.Spotted something new when I visited to their outlet yesterday. The all-NEW Ham Tamago Bun is filled with Japanese-style egg mayonnaise, savoury ham & sweet ketchup. Can’t resist to get a few pieces back for my family to try it.If you have not tried their bakery before, their crowd favourite GKK Signature buns include:▪️Gokoku Shichifuku (Wholesome combination made with Japanese brown rice flour, sunflower seeds, malt, oatmeal, linseed & soybeans rich in minerals & dietary fibe)▪️Malt Kurumi (Hearty soft bun with high fibre ingredients like malt, oatmeal, soybeans and walnut)▪️Mochi Mochi Cheese (Soft & chewy bun filled with diced cheese)▪️Signature Red Bean (Soft bun with high quality, Hokkaido chunky red bean paste)▪️Mochi Mochi Cranberry (Fragrantly soft & chewy bun filled with cranberry and a light butter flavour)Location: Great World, Jurong Point, Millenia Walk, NEX and Tampines Mall outlets.#gokokujapanesebakery #RES #breakfast #buns #breadlovers #japanesebakery #hamtamagobun #burpple #burpplesg #burpproved #burppletastemaker
One of my favourite bakery finally opened near my place! Saves the trouble of visiting the one at Great World. I love the breads they are so well made and love the freshness and the flavours. They have their own top 5 but I hardly buy those I have my own. The coronet is definitely the item I would recommend and its definitely well loved for all ages. The mochi couverture is something nice if you like a chewy feeling eating a bread. The chocolate one is not sweet and is pretty tasty.I always have problem leaving the shop because I always buy more than I originally intended. I have more of a sweet tooth and usually only like sweet pastries but the savoury ones here has also won me over. Definitely a good buy as the items are reasonably priced.
Bread is nice, but the younger cashier is very rude...I happen to drop a bun and picked up and apologized to the cashier and explained that it drop off my tray. Cashier took the bun and threw away and said loudly, drop must pay...I questioned why and luckily the other cashier told me is alright. If they had insisted me to pay the bun which was thrown away, i would cancel my whole purchase.Come on!
was in queue right beside the cashier aunty (1). yet she (1) opened up another queue for the customer after me 👎 at least the new cashier aunty (2) was nice enough to ask who came first
The bread is really delicious, especially the red bean one😩It's been 12 hours and it's still delicious to eatThe average price is 2.60 and there are many variants~The service is fast and the atmosphere is okay! But you have to be patient in queuing because it's busy!
Went on Sat, 7/12 saw many houseflies INSIDE one of the display cabinets! The 4-5 houseflies were resting ON THE BREAD! Went to inform the cashier, I hope they replace all the bread on the shelves. Walked out without buying any bun.
First time buying the bread here. Looks fresh even at 6pm. When I pick the bread with the tongs, the bread are still soft and fragrant. I like that they stack the trays facing down. This is way more hygienic. Nice thought on that! Bread selections are pretty unique and different in a good way.For 3 breads, I paid $7.20
Found my newest favorite bakery. It’s pillowy-soft kind of bread. Tried their tuna mayo pan, matcha, and hokkaido cheese bread. No regret! Find gokoku from MRT exit at vivocity and go right.
I bought the cheese bread from the vivocity outlet but there was a strand of hair inside the bread… so disgustingEditing this review: I am pleased with how they handled the situation. Thank you.
The Gokoku Japanese Bakery is located at the Basement 1 of VivoCity, selling bread with fillings, white bread/loaves, batards, among many others.I tried the multi-grain batard and enjoyed it. The batard had a crusty exterior and a chewy inside. The addition of seeds gave some earthy flavor to an otherwise plain bread. You can buy it as a whole loaf or the pre-cut ones.I also tried the shio pan (without filling). The inside was chewy, and very buttery. The outside was somewhat crispy. It was quite addictive.
This bakery chain has been popping up in malls. Chewy bread don't really work for some pastry though. The queue moves very fast, and some of the popular bread ran out.
They create some of the more unique bakes I enjoyed eating. Every pastry or bun seem to be baked to perfection. Check out my pictures for those buns I highly recommend.
I'm absolutely thrilled about Gokoku Japanese Bakery at VivoCity! Their bread is my top choice, and I can't get enough of their coronet and mochi mochi cheese pastries. Every visit is a delightful experience, and I find myself returning for more of their scrumptious treats. If you're a fan of Japanese baked goods, this is the place to be! 🥖🥐😍
Strolled by and was attracted by the wide range of pastries. Their coronets were calling and I gave in to temptation. Light creamy and not too sweet. Even the chocolate flavoured coronet was rightly balanced.
Great Japanese bakery.Tried the walnut bread, it’s soft and made with wholegrain bread. The amount of walnut on top are chunky and plenty. The mochi cranberry is amazing too. The bread softness is not that mochi type but really chewy.
Reviewing again cuz they said they'd stock more pork sausage buns but it's still out of stock when I visit. Now ill give a specific date and time 1427h on Wednesday. Would be great if they carried inventory properly so people don't make a wasted trip. Also the place is understaffed sometimes. Some shops like to have the popular stuff oos because they think it shows demand but it's really lost income because we arent substituting. Instead of buying a few buns including less popular ones we just walk out and buy none. There are 3 bakeries in this 1min radius.
Staff/cashier was very gruffy and curt. Acted like I stepped on her toes. I buy from this gokuko outlet almost every Sunday afternoon after my class. I do not expect the staff to be friendly or nice but I also don't expect them to be curt and short tempered. This is still a service industry, rite? she has a choice to work elsewhere if she is so unhappy here.
I am in search for the best bakery in SG and I think Gokoku is a strong contender.Randomly picked 2 pastry and also got their coronets. Super yummy and shiok.
I love gokoku bread!!! My fav is their Fuji apple kouign amann. It’s a must try. The shio pan is also nice. My dad liked the pork floss bun. In general the bread quality is amazing, nice to chew. Check out their new Sakura pastries! 😋🤭
4⭐️ for service. The aunty had her back facing me when approached the cashier to make payment. She acknowledged me.Recently opened in 2023, and is part of the Res rewards Program. $20 spent to earn rewards. One of those few stores where there is a bottle of hand sanitiser located where you get the tray and thong.Review of the buns in the photo attached. Some different kinds of bakery compared to other nearby bakeries.
A friend of mine brought me to try the bread here.I got the MARBLE PRETZEL which is a crispy puff pastry coated with white chocolate & topped with almond slices. It was good. Crispy, flaky and not too overly sweet.KOUIGN-AMANN a round crispy pastry with rich buttery taste. It wasn't as crispy and flaky as I wanted it to be.PEANUT SHIO BUTTER PAN. Savoury soft bun with a crispy exterior filled with peanut butter paste. My first time trying it and it was like a dense and chewy bread which I don't really like.Overall my favourite was the marble pretzel.
